Rebel Wilson is an Australian actress, comedian, writer, singer and producer. In 2020 she started her “Year of Health” when she decided to not work as much and instead focus on herself and her health.
Here are 7 things which she did to make herself happier and healthier.
1. You don’t have to be perfect
A lot of people are too hard on themselves. First you want to pick a diet and exercise plan. While, of course, your aim is to stick to it don’t be too hard on yourself if you skip a day or eat something which you’re not supposed to.
Tomorrow is another day when you have a chance to try again. Remember that failure is impossible if you never give up.
2. Remind yourself why
Why do you want to lose weight or eat more healthily? For Rebel, her “why” was so that she could freeze her eggs and maybe have children in the future.
Whether your reason is to have more energy, impress your partner, your kids, enter a competition, get a new job, start a business or improve your self confidence.
Reminding yourself why will keep you motivated.
3. Choose your favorite exercise
Exercise is an important of weight loss and healthy living. The good news is there are so many types of exercise so you can choose the one which works best for you.
Whether you prefer walking, jogging, running, outdoors, on a treadmill, swimming, morning workout or evening workout is up to you.
The main thing is to choose a routine and then try to stick to it. Consistency is better than intensity.
4. Breakfast is very important
Skipping breakfast will not help you lose weight. You could miss out on essential nutrients and you may end up snacking more throughout the day because you feel hungry.
Eating at regular times during the day also helps burn calories at a faster rate.
5. Be mindful about what you eat
It’s natural to feel hungry in between meals. Make a conscious decision about what you eat. For example you can get an apple or a carrot to snack on instead of a chocolate bar or a slice of pizza.
You’ll find that these small changes applied over time will actually make a difference.
6. Get good sleep
Getting good sleep is just as important as eating healthy and exercising.
Studies show that poor sleep is one of the strongest risk factors for obesity, as it’s linked to an 89% increased risk of obesity in children and 55% in adults.
Make a commitment to try and sleep and wake up at a set time time everyday. Also reserve one day of the week for rest and relaxation.
Your body will thank you for this.
7. Love yourself
Rebel says “I’m a very confident, skilled, accomplished person, but I still suffer from having low self-worth and just not loving myself.”
Even if you don’t start a new diet and exercise plan you are still a beautiful and worthy human being who God made. Avoid feeling like you have to do something to become more worthy of love and respect because you don’t.
Another thing which helps your well-being is to think of one to five things which you’re grateful for everyday.
A little bit of self love goes a long way.
One of the best ways to get started with your weight loss and healthy living plan is to start by cleaning out the toxins in your body.
